Who We Support

Apple Hill supports adults with complex dementia, severe and enduring mental health needs, cognitive impairment and associated physical health needs who require specialist residential care with nursing.

Many residents have a combination of mental, physical and cognitive needs, including behavioural or psychological symptoms associated with dementia or mental ill health, and require 24-hour nursing care, mental health support, assistance with daily living, medication management and ongoing clinical oversight within a structured longer-term residential environment.

The Environment

Apple Hill provides a calm, well-equipped environment designed to support comfort, familiarity and day-to-day living.

The home has communal lounges, dining areas, courtyards and gardens, creating opportunities for social interaction, meaningful activity and quiet time where needed.

The environment has been designed to promote dignity, comfort and routine, while enabling residents to access the nursing care, support and reassurance they need within a residential setting. Apple Hill is also within easy reach of local healthcare services, including the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Our Approach

Apple Hill provides longer-term residential care with nursing for people who require ongoing support with complex dementia, mental health needs or a combination of both. Residents may be placed following a hospital stay, a deterioration in mental or physical health, or the breakdown of an existing placement.

Others may be referred directly from the community or from another care setting where a higher level of nursing and mental health support is required. Our care pathway is designed to provide stability, consistency and clinical oversight, while supporting residents to maintain their skills, routines and quality of life.

For some residents, Apple Hill provides a long-term home, while for others it forms part of a wider care pathway, ensuring the right level of support is in place at the right time.

Apple Hill accepts referrals for men and women aged 18 years and over who require residential care with nursing because of complex dementia, enduring mental health needs, cognitive impairment or associated physical health needs.

This includes people who:

  • Have mental health conditions
  • Have complex dementia or cognitive impairment
  • Require nursing care or personal care because of physical or mental health needs
  • Require a structured residential setting with nursing support

All admissions are subject to assessment to ensure Apple Hill can meet the individual’s needs safely and effectively.
